So,I just wanted to post an update as to how my fitness routine is going ever since I ditched the scale.
And I must say, it's going RAWSOME!
I've been eating mostly raw, uncooked or lightly steamed with an occasional cooked vegan meal and it's been great. My arms are slimming out, and I can simultaneously see the muscle tone in my biceps and quads from the kettle bell workout and squats.
I'm a bit lazy when it comes to crunches and sit ups, so I rely on my kettle bell for all that.
In addition, I haven't been taking my water for granted. It's easy to forfeit it and make excuse after excuse, like "I can't go to the bathroom that often" or "I don't have time."
Increasing your water intake is crucial to building muscle and losing fat.
Don't you ever forget it!
What started out as a gluttonous tribute to tasty fattening foods (Food by Nadia) has become an effort to promote wellness and fitness through knowledge building.

Meet your Meat
Meat Eating is not essential to humans. We were designed to be herbivorous.
Eating flesh was permitted on a temporary basis after the flood, because the water destoyed
ALL life outside the ark.
Cheese breaks down into cyanide in the human stomach.
Stop poisoning yourself.
"Dead Meat by Sue Coe" is also a spot on read. I came across it while working in my prior college's library. Please consider reading it yourself.
The keys
Yesterday's workout was epic! I had the best ten minutes ever!
Folks, there is no need to focus on hours of working out if your eating is clean. Well that is unless, you're trying to compete.
While 20 - 40 minutes is better, you won't lose anything but fat for trying.
Ten minutes of intense HIIT cardio or strength is better than nothing.
So for right now, I don't own a scale, and I think it's been working in my favor.
We (myself highly included) have spent an enormous amount of time being conditioned to count calories. The happiest people are those who understand nutrition, the numbers and how to apply them both. Self education is the best way to empower yourself. It isn't a simple matter of calories in and out. It's about the quality of those calories and the quality of your workout.
So my keys to you? Invest in a kettlebell if you don't already own one!
If you do, call it your best friend. A kettlebell is an awesome double whammy of strength of cardio in each calculated maneuver.
Drink half your body weight in ounces of water.
Take two half hour contrast showers daily ending on cold.
Focus on your food. EVERYONE eats more than they work out (we hope) and eating contributes to 70 -80 percent of your fitness goals. Abs are made in the kitchen.
Trying to lose ten pounds? 8 of those fat pounds can be shed from eating clean.
We seriously don't need as much protein as we've been told.
And yes, you knew th
is one was coming..... Plants contain protein.
Protein is also made as a by product of fruits and veggies. Wow, most folks won't tell you that.
You need to dig that one up yourself. So if you're like "Whoa..I need protein, and plants don't have it."
Think again. Kale is an excellent source of iron, calcium and protein. So is any other dark green leafy vegetable. However, don't put fruits and other light colored veggies on a back burner. your body makes protein out of these also.
Water weight is a myth. I'm so tired of this madness. Look it up and see for yourself.
We are beings that are mostly water anyway.
Pure muscle contains 73% water
One pound of fat contains 70-80% lipids. This leaves 30-20 percent remaining of what? excrement/waste and yep you guessed it...water.
If you lose 20 pounds.. don't let anyone tell you it was water weight.
That's ridiculous. Haters come in many shapes and sizes...especially the ones who don't have your drive.

Self skin tightening
After months of digging, I've found a few things you can do to keep your skin firm and full of elasticity while you are transitioning from working out. You know what I mean. Stretchmarks, most people can live with, and those who can't use shea and coconut butters.
Eat loads of raw, uncooked cruciferous vegetables.
Take vegan Borage oil supplements
Moisturize with Extra Virgin coconut oils
Essential Oil of peppermint - rub down with it.
Drink 1/2 your body weight in ounces of water daily.
Muscle training emphasis instead of relying so heavily on cardio.
These methods combined will result in your skin thanking you later.
Remember, the loose skin can also be a result of losing too much weight too quickly, as evidenced in Extreme Makeover weight loss edition. Participants lose well over 100 pounds in a year and "need" skin surgery. There would be no need for it if
the weight loss were gradual, and the person was supplementing properly. I've seen a fitness model who lost 90 pounds in a year and she didn't get the surgery.
All the best to the Best!
Disturbing trend
I can't begin to explain how annoying and disturbing it is to continue reading articles online that bash cold therapy.
I've seen a news anchor get into a tub of ice cold water and then say that this is not recommended.
I've read a report on a research study conducted where the participants ran downhill for 40 minutes and then where immersed in cylindrical vats of 5 degree water. Participants complained about the water being too cold.
Really? Alright. There is sound research that proves that cryotherapy is important in muscle rehabilitation.
This d5 degree research study only focuses on the efficacy of muscle repair based on the experiences of participants.
Here are my questions.
what was the age range of participants?
How active were they?
Was the introduction to the cold a gradual one or were the participants thrown into the experience?
Besides muscle inflammation, what other facet was being measured?
Do your own research and you will see that hydrotherapy /contrast showers and cryotherapy have enormous benefits.
It helps to regulate mood by raising "feel good" hormone levels. It draws our dormant white blood cells from within your muscle tissue, circulating them throughout your body to destroy free radicals, and it makes you lose stubborn fat.
Like holistic cures for cancer, cold therapy has been getting alot of negative press. There are methods in curing cancer that are quelled by big media, pharmaceutical companies, the FDA and laws that regulate free trade and commerce.
I wouldn't be surprised if the reason why cold therapy/hydrotherapy etc has been continually thrown under the bus is because IT ACTUALLY WORKS!
I've made believers out of two of my friends, and I am hoping to make a believer out of you! Study to show yourself approved!

Raw Vegan Protein Balls!
So I decided to make this post public since it gained some interest. :) enjoy!

Oats at least 6 cups or more Raw organic Cocao nibs <---as many as you like, these are pretty bitter. I added 3 handfuls to mine. Guarana 1/2 cup ginger (shredded) <---your preference 1/2 cup coconut flakes 1/2 cup applesauce (or 2 of the Gerber baby sized containers of mixed berry sauce) 4 heaping tablespoons of peanut butter cinnamon 6 table spoons nutmeg 4 table spoons 1/4 cup chia seeds vanilla extract 2 table spoons Agave nectar 1/4 cup Or 3/4 cup brown sugar ( the agave nectar if preferred because it holds the balls together well. You can also soak some dates overnight, drain the wait and purée 2 bananas (optional) If you find that the mixture is too wet, add more oats. mix dry ingredients together first. add in the wet ones, you'll get a firm, sticky lump. break into pieces and roll them into little balls. These can be had as is or can be baked at 350 degrees for 15 minutes. You can also press them flat on a baking sheet and bake them for about 15-20 minutes or so @ 350 degrees take them out, let them cool in the fridge, or if you can't wait, pop them in the freezer. Then cut them into squares/rectangles for that traditional granola bar look.

Wheat Grass
Wheat grass has loads of benefits, including nourishing the blood, healing skin, and repairing lung scars.
Homemade Gastric Bypass
Gastric bypass is an extreme way of calorie restriction. You can
restrict your caloric intake while still getting essential nutrients,
proteins and healthy fats.
This is accomplished by filling your stomach with fiber first before you have your meal.
Have your meals 5 hours apart. This gives your stomach time to fully digest each meal, giving your body what it needs for optimal nutrition. This increases your body's ability to draw upon fat reserves. This 5 hour rule is like a daily mini fast. If you ABSOLUTELY MUST snack, snack wisely, high fiber high protein.
Before each meal, drink 2 16 ounce bottles of water. Then start your meal. Eat the fiber first (Fruits/raw veggies)
The fiber will swell in your stomach as it hits the water you just drank.
This will leave less room for food. Start eating your complex carbs and proteins and take 12 minutes to eat it. Your brain releases an "I'm full" hormone after 10 minutes of chewing. This is why some people still feel so empty after having a smoothie. The release of this hormone is connected to your chewing mechanism. Most smoothies are blended beyond the point of chewing. A little grit won't hurt at all.
After your meal, have a large cup of peppermint tea. Peppermint helps to curb cravings. Tap a small amount under your nose (of the peppermint OIL) CHEW peppermint gum between meals. If you get a hunger pang, preoccupy your mind for 8 minutes. Cravings last for 8 minutes. Resist, and you will be successful. Replace the craving with water...sip tea slowly (again, trick your tummy by sipping for 10 minutes) Or fill up on a bottle of water. This will hold you for five hours. Believe me I've done this and consistency is key here. You will not fall over lol You will make it.
If this is too much for you, just eat fruits and veggies first in every meal. You'll still feel full, because you have to chew the raw foods for longer. However, to get the desired effect, drink water before your meal. (try for 15 minutes before and after each meal) If you don't remember, just doing it is better than nothing at all.
P.S. Sometimes, when I encounter a familiar smell, I take deep whiffs of it, like when I'm passing by KFC or a Pizzeria (yes, I'm vegan but the stuff still smells good!) and after I've gotten my bellyful of whiffs, I'm so good and no longer desire it. You can do the same with chocolate cake :)
Here's a video I did, not sure why it loaded upside down. You can listen to me in bat mode for more great tips.

Beautiful Bodies
Well boys and girls, have I got a real treat for you!
I've been watching this company for a while now and I love them!
They keep it real, and they have done their homework when it comes to herbs and nutrients. As
such, they have made a series of creams and oils that boast of enlarging your bust line,
making your hair grow, slim your tummy and extrude your bootay.
They've got firming and tightening creams and recently started a product for arthritis and pains.
In a word, wow!
I have personally tried the Max growth oil and Mo Butta cream with superb results...my only regret was that
I didn't have more! I mean it's not like I needed to use any of this stuff..I already have a great body..see my before and after here.
HOWEVER.."greatness" can always be improved upon and WOW..I say WOW when I was using this stuff religiously. Like anything you do..consistency is key...Let's not be ridiculous and stuff our faces with toxic foods and expect this stuff to works wonders.
I believe I experienced my amazing results because I was feeding my body internally a mostly plant based and herbal infusion along with attacking the fat externally. So here's that link to Mo Butta!
I am not getting paid for this referral and these folks have no clue as to who I am. Just click!
If you want to get the results I did, click here to learn what I ate and what I was doing while using Mo' Butta product line.

Natural Fever Busting Foods
Well this is flu season it seems. My daughter had complained her stomach was hurting for the past two days and what do you know...it seems as though she has a stomach bug. Complete with a temperature of 102.
I did some praying and digging and came up with this brew:
Celery, ginger, lime, cilantro, and to sweeten it with carrots.
Well that drink didn't go so well with her. She took one sip and BLECK! (I guess I should've included the apples).
In any case, I've been drinking it and it's been helping my flu-like symptoms too.
Other foods for your consideration are foods high in vitamin A and C.
Hot pepper are an excellent source of this.
For a friend I suggested grapefruit, 1 red chilli pepper, and ginger for allergies.
He has reported that he feels much better and can feel the mucous draining.
He also says that his nose is running, which is a good sign. His body is quickly removing the allergen.
So, if you're sick, or your throat begins to feel that little tickle...
remember in addition to plenty of water and rest, drink the flu fighting herbs and citrus sources!

I'm back!
I know it's been a while, but I have gone through many changes since my last post.
I had turned vegetarian, then eventually back to veganism.
I then returned to eating meat due to a change in living arrangements and relocating.
I have since returned to vegan living.
It has been a happy return to what is healthy, what works and what is right.
Some days aren't exactly perfect, but I embrace it as the number 1 way to staying healthy and fit!
when I look at te madness I was doing to my body with stressing out, allowing foolishness to add inches to my waistline, and engaging in emotionallly charged eating, I get really angry at myself for allowing myself to go so far.
